The PRJC Big Band Event with Swing Shift Big Band, 9 December 2012 at Rosensteel Hall


Founded in 1994, the Swing Shift Big Band is an 18 piece band lead by band veteran and guitarist Matt Trimboli and managed by Barkley Kern. Swing Shift and its members contribute time and talent to a variety of philanthropic community endeavors.

The PRJC Annual Meeting with the Not-So-Modern Jazz Band
November 10, 2012 at Cedar Knoll Restaurant in VA


   Lead by Mike Ritter, the band consisted of Chip Kelly on guitar/banjo, Bill Taybron on string bass, Steve Watson on drums and Mike Ritter on reeds.


The Peabody Ragtime Ensemble, Rosensteel, 7 October 2012

  Founded in 1974, the Peabody Ragtime Ensemble has evolved into a professional jazz ensemble that performs an eclectic repertoire of traditional jazz: Ragtime, Dixieland, Big Band, Swing, Novelties and vocals.

    Dixieland Express line-up included John Stewart on trombone, vocals by Elie Cossa, and Anders Eliasson on drums.
    Players in Capital Focus Jazz Band, the PRJC Youth Jazz Band include: Andrew Velez, trumpet, Geoff Gallante, cornet, Alex Poetzschke, clarinet/alto, Paul Lambert, trombone, Tom Mason, piano, Drew Flores, piano, Steve Leas, banjo/guitar, Pete Begina, tuba, David Brenneman, tuba/trombone, William Wadsworth, drums, Tyler Waters, drums, and Dave Robinson, cornet/director.

    Players in the Conservatory Classic Jazz Band, led by Dave Robinson, included Dave Robinson, trumpet/cornet/valve trombone Gary Gregg, clarinet/soprano/tenor, Brian Priebe, trombone, Jeff Reynolds, guitar/banjo, Dan Hall, bass, and Anders Eliasson, drums.

    Players in Hal's Bayou Jazz Band, led by Sig Seidenman include: Sig, Dave Robinson, Brian Priebe
    And, the music continued through the tornado warnings with a few jam tunes after all performed!

The Blue Crescent Syncopators, 26 August 2012

    The Blue Crescent Syncopators played jazz from the 1920's up until the dawn of the Swing era for a full house at Rosensteel Hall on August 26th. The lineup included: Pianist/guitarist/vocalist Craig Gildner, trombonist David Sager, multi instrumentalists Anita Thomas on reeds, Jon Combs on bass, seasoned DC drummer Brian Alpert of Doc Scantlin fame rounded out the rhythm section, and featuring trumpet man David Erickson along with Craig on horn for some songs, creating the classic three horn sound prominent in hot and trad jazz.

PRJC Member Musicians at the NOLA Trad Jazz Camp, June 2012

PRJC Members Dave Sager, Herve LeBoeuf, Les Elkins, Elie Cossa, Ken Carlson, Meghan Williams, and Joel Albert participated in this year's Annual New Orleans Traditional Jazz Camp for Adults that is held in the French Quarter over the first week of June. The Jazz Camp, limited to 80 participants, features a week-long session where musicians and music enthusiasts from around the world are invited to learn the history and techniques of traditional New Orleans style jazz in the city where it all began.
